this situation and gave me the salvation I desperately needed.

I headed to my friend’s house and was given the much−needed shelter I desperately needed. My friend was shocked to see me in the state I was in. I clearly looked broken. I stayed the night at her house but had made sure I booked a hotel for the next couple of days so that I would not be putting her and her family in danger.

The next day I found myself a lawyer and filed for divorce discreetly. I signed a power of attorney and decided it was best for me to leave Egypt as I didn’t feel safe there anymore. I needed to move
