By marrying another woman without discussing it with his current wife Sultan illustrates that he is a man that clearly enjoys his power within his realm and others must abide by his rules or else face the consequences of his actions. Sultan is also the trickster role when he hides his rather large collection of Literature texts from the various police and Taliban fundamentalists. His rationale for hiding his texts in various locations throughout his own empire is in order to ensure that they are not discovered for fear of being burnt by the fundamentalist extremists.
