It is indeed correct to note that this book has certainly allowed the voices of many characters and citizens of Afghanistan to have a ‘voice’ where previously they have been silenced. The novels have also allowed a community that has tried on numerous occasions to have their history and literary texts claim some recognition but to no avail has this really been taken into account as part of the Afghanastani Literary Canon till The Kite Runner was successfully published.

The three texts chosen for this book, The Kite Runner, The Bookseller of Kabul and Born under a Million Shadows have clearly demonstrated the increased need for further texts to be published by Afghanistan writers.
