his book began as an analysis of how the lives of the people in Afghanistan had changed, adapted and survived the turmoil and aftermath of the various conflicts and wars that it has encountered as a country under constant scrutiny and war. The main theme of ‘voices’ that were not represented within the Afghanastani community was something that had steered my writing from the very first text choice that I had made which was The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. The novel allowed me to delve very deeply into topics that a majority of writers have perhaps not yet explored in depth within the wider community.
