It seems clear that the Taliban are misusing their power and control over a society whom they are trying to regulate according to Islamic Laws. Foucault in History of Sexuality, Right of Death and Power over Life states that:

if someone dared to rise up against him and transgress his laws, then he could exercise a direct power over the offender’s life: as punishment, the latter would be put to death.
